Only skin I have in my list is 5imple Alpha
Published on October 31, 2005 By Poddytat In WindowBlinds
First off, I love the 5imple skin, so I'm glad it's there. BUT even if I double click on my other faves like Arrow, Vista, etc, I get the tooltip saying it was installed, and the folder is in the WB directory, but it's not in the list in the configuration window. They are not in the drop down list of the appearances tab of the Display Properties page either.

I have uninstalled WB5, deleted all the skin folders and then reinstalled and rebooted. No dice. This problem only occured after I uninstalled WB 4.6 from Stardock Central, seeing how I thought perhaps some other issues I was having was due to there being two versions of WB on my machine. Do I need to start over, reinstall WB4x and then reinstall WB5? I'm lost. Grrr. BTW, I have XP Pro SP2, and the troubleshooting thingie on the WB5 config window says everything is installed/working/set up fine.

You definitely do need to uninstall WindowBlinds 4.x before installing WindowBlinds 5 Beta.  There is a known issue when trying to download and install skins using the "Download" button on skin webpages.  What you can instead do is this:

Install a WindowBlinds 5 Beta skin
  • Right click on "Download"
  • Select "Save as" and save into the WindowBlinds Directory: C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\Windowblinds
  • Navigate to that directory
  • Right click on the file and extract it to that directory (it should extract all the files into a folder)
  • Open up the WindowBlinds Configuration window and the skin should be there. Press the Refresh Button if you don't see it.

I didn't know this was a "known issue" with WB. I thought I just tweaked my settings to much for internet.
